Mohan Lal Mittal
Mr. Mohan Lal Mittal is widely acclaimed as the visionary of indianisation of global steel. He is one of the noted non-resident Indians who launched India on the global industrial map building a global corporation in iron & steel, metals and minerals from scratch.
Born in Rajasthan in 1926 with humble beginnings, Mr. Mittal’s story is the struggle of a visionary, against the backdrop of a desert, limited infrastructure and poor resources. He is the founding chairman of the Ispat group of companies having businesses in iron & steel and associate businesses across the world. He is chairman emeritus for Global Steel and Ispat group.
Mr. Mittal understood the dynamics of steel long before the big producers of steel grasped the dynamics of the changes that would storm this traditional sector. He knew the future would move around the pegs of flexibility, cost efficiency, operational cost savings, conservation of environment, recyclable steel & corporate governance.
He always dreamt of taking Indian steel industry all over the world. At a time when Indian ability to manage global corporations was little known, Mr. Mittal and his sons created global corporations that would stand the test of time.
Today he is actively involved with various socio-cultural organizations that work towards a unified world through promotion of education and human values.
